HOTEL SARINA’s Creative Social Attempt for Street Children

On International Mother Language Day, 2021, Hotel Sarina Invited AMCC to attend their Day-long Live Charity Painting Exhibition where 50+ well-known and socially responsible artists participated with a vision to donate the money raised from the artworks to the most-vulnerable & disadvantaged street children of AMCC. Along with the exhibition, a live cultural performance was carried out. To intensify the impact, they ran a month-long book donation campaign too which were handed-over to AMCC on the day of the event.

Artist Ahmed Nawaz, The Managing Director Golam Sarwar Chowdhury and the Chairperson of Hotel Sarina, Sabera Sarwar Neena were present on the occasion.

Later, on theInternational Day for Street Children,they visited DAM head office again to offer another dose of surprise.They brought 33 artworks with them and donated BDT 1,39,000/- (One lac Thirty-nine Thousand) that they have raised from the auction for comprehensive development of the disadvantaged children of Ahsania Mission Children City (AMCC). Reversing it, we utilized this opportunity to pay our utmost homage to them for being a socially responsible corporate organization.

At this event, we had the valuable presence of the President of DAM, Kazi Rafiqul Alam& Executive Director, Dr. M. Ehsanur Rahman along with the Chairperson of Hotel Sarina, Mrs. Sabera Sarwar Neena& the General Manager, Mr. Sree. The whole programme was collaborated by the Programme Coordinator of DAM, Sk. MahabbatHossen.

We express our utmost gratitude to Hotel Sarina Dhaka for being a consistent ally of AMCC and DAM.

Two-day Long Training on Investigation Process for Reintegrating Children into the Families

AMCC participated in a two-day-long workshop organized by Kindernothilfe (KNH)-Bangladesh team on ‘Investigation ProcessforReintegratingChildren into the Families’inside its own premises on 14th & 15th of February, 2021.

Altogether 12 staffs participated in the workshop which consists of Teachers, Councillors, Paramedic, Social Workers, Accounts Officer, Program Officer, Centre Manager and Program Coordinator. As a facilitator, we had the presence of Md. Moniruzzaman Mukul, Program Coordinator, (KNH- Germany).

The facilitator triggered the point that AMCC staffs has been directly working with children with a view to reintegrate them for last 10 years. So, the workshop is a mixture of reviewing & sharing the learning. That is why, it is very important to keep up the flow of knowledge-sharing for the advancement of new team members.

The objectives of the workshop were to identify the reasons of children getting separated from their families; to fill in gaps within the activities related to reintegration; to review programme design & components of working with street children, their families and communities; to explore cross-cutting resources & principles of good practice in children’s reintegration; to share reintegration tools and techniques keeping CPP and CRC in consideration.

The workshop ended up with discussing regular practices, pulling out a demonstration session and documenting all the suggested solutions. 

AMCC organized its 2nd Student Council Election

On 22nd February, 2021 AMCC organized its 2nd Student Council Election.

Student Council is one of the leadership building activities that engages children into taking ownership of their own roles in making difference. These selected child representatives would take lead to make decision regarding educational & school infrastructural changes for next one year.

This year, 27 Children competedfor 7 chairs. Electioncommissioner Md. Rubel,Presiding Officer Md. Sadek&polling officer Md. Mahabubtogether facilitated this election.In total, among 126 childrenvoter, 112 voted and 3 voteswere cancelled.

Being an active part of these practical leadership and teambuilding experiences, children are

acquiring soft skills like socializing, effective communication and public speaking which is helping them to grow as responsible & maintained human beings.
